In the creation of the “Raw” series, Lisbon-based artist Anna Demidova was interested in form over function: the shape is a key. She has excluded a colorful glaze here and tried to highlight natural texture of the material, combining a few types of clay: coarse, grey stoneware and ultramarine porcelain that perfectly demonstrate a contrast between shape, colour and material. Anna was inspired by human being and living creatures, which is why the artworks in the “Raw” series arouse associations with bionic shapes, knuckles, parts of body and living tissue. Lack of surfaces perfection indicatives of our real life and fragility. You can read more about Anna and her work here. This piece is from Anna Demidova's AW Sculptural Series.
